CASE STUDY

DC Public Library Foundation

For the third straight year, Scott Circle was tasked with helping the DC Public Library Foundation raise awareness for their Banned Books Week programming and annual fundraising event, UNCENSORED: The Cocktail Party.

Due in part to Scott Circle’s media outreach efforts and social media strategy, Banned Books Week and UNCENSORED was mentioned in over 50 media stories. There have been several stories in local outlets such as multiple mentions in The Washington Post and television packages broadcast on WJLA-TV, NewsChannel8 and WUSA-TV. This year the campaign is also making national headlines for the very first time with stories on NPR’s Here and Now, All Things Considered, Yahoo News, Bustle, Hello Giggles, ABC News Online and many others.

The attention the campaign received this year dramatically increased DCPLF’s social media following. DCPLF gained over 800 new, combined Instagram and Twitter followers. Additionally, #UNCENSOREDDC has been used in over 600 social media posts and has made over 3 million impressions. Excitement for UNCENSORED: The Cocktail Party is was greater than ever, with over 4 times as many tickets sold for the event compared to the same date last year.
