Crystal City Business Improvement District

The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) wanted to raise their profile both locally and nationally, so they called on Scott Circle for public relations support.

Scott Circle worked with the BID to craft a media plan that would address the BID’s initiatives in Crystal City with an overall goal of attracting more businesses and visitors, while positioning Crystal City as a tech and innovation hub. One of Scott Circle’s projects was to promote the BID’s 10th anniversary, highlighting important milestones such as new developments with big real estate agencies, recurring festivals and events, and an overall community pride for the area and its growth. We reached out to local media and secured several interviews for the BID’s CEO, Angela Fox. Scott Circle leveraged its extensive list of media contacts to generate earned coverage for the BID and its CEO, including local publications such as ARLnow.com and Bisnow. The buzz for Crystal City continues to grow and CEO Angela Fox recently said, “not a week goes by where someone doesn’t say to me – I was just reading an article about Crystal City.”

Over the course of our engagement, Scott Circle has worked to promote multiple art previews and events taking place in Crystal City. By securing press coverage in advance and working with outlets to guarantee attendance, Scott Circle raised the profile and press coverage for multiple artistic endeavors including but not limited to FLASH, Artomatic, Crystal City Art Week, Crystal City Art Walls, The Huffington Post, Crain’s, public radio, Washingtonian, The Washington Business Journal, Washington Post Magazine and more.

The BID’s initiatives have also been featured in tech publications including DC Inno, Technical.ly DC and Tech Cocktail. Scott Circle also researched, pitched and secured speaking opportunities for Ms. Fox at national events, including the Smart Cities Conference and Sustainatopia. She also served as emcee of two national Women in Green Forums. Lastly, Scott Circle aggressively looked for award opportunities for the BID and Ms. Fox. Ms. Fox was named one of Northern Virginia Magazine’s Northern Virginians of the Year, a Washington Business Journal Woman to Watch and Smart CEO’s Cornerstone Award. The buzz for Crystal City continues to grow and CEO Angela Fox recently said, “not a week goes by where someone doesn’t say to me – I was just reading an article about Crystal City.”
